The principle enabling factor for all these global, continental, or regional commercial activities in the leather sector has been the policies that different regions and countries have put in place for this purpose. It is these policies, promoting the leather industry, that are of primary interest in this study, and to the LIN Platform Project under which the study was conducted.

The study report presents the aim and objectives of the exercise, defines the scope of coverage, and the methodology adopted by the study. This is followed by a review of growth-promoting policies in the leather industries in East Africa with a focus on Kenya, before it examines similar policies in Ethiopia. A summary appears at the end in a manner of conclusion and a recommendation of policies to be considered for enactment for the purposes of promoting the growth of the leather industry in the East Africa
