LACEA is a conglomerate of national leather associations in East Africa working towards enhanced trade in leather and leather products.
Operating virtually, through the LIN – East Africa platform, LACEA works to facilitate private sector players participation in shaping the region’s leather sector development agenda. The consortium employs digital networking as the key strategic tool in harnessing the potential of sector players to influence favorable framework conditions for off-take of recommendations outlined in the EAC Strategy for Leather, Leather Products and Footwear Sector (EAC-Secretariat, 2018)
Specifically, LACEA seeks to strengthen dialogue among sector players; forging joint policy positions and building business capabilities of leather stakeholders. It promotes cooperation among East Africa leather associations, enabling sharing of best practice and establishment of strategic partnerships across the region. By so doing, the consortium contributes to realizing a vibrant regional leather industry and, by extension promotes East Africa’s integration.
